I would like to let you know about an upcoming training project called 'Historic Graves & Stories'.
We are looking for a Community/Heritage group that would like to get involved in photographing and documenting the stories of a Historic Graveyard using new media techniques. This project would involve working with an archaeology team to record and geographically identify (geotagging with GPS coordinates) each grave in a graveyard.
This information would then be uploaded to a searchable online database – www.historicgraves.ie.
Other outcomes would be that the Community/Heritage group would devise a Graveyard Management Plan in collaboration with the Archaeology Team, along with a printed and illustrated tour of the graveyard.
The proposed dates for this initiative are Tuesday 29th and Wednesday 30th March 2011.
We require that at least 1-2 people from the Community/Heritage Group would be available to work with the Archaeology Team on the ground on these dates.
Participants should have reasonably good IT and photography skills. West Cork Development Partnership will provide all equipment.
