Local Sustainability Best Practice Case Studies

The Comhar SDC Local Sustainability Newsletter is designed to provide a platform for information sharing for local authorities and communities on best practice on local sustainability. It features case studies from around the country demonstrating how projects have worked and how they have made an impact. With increasing financial and other constraints due to the current economic climate, effective information sharing avoids duplication of work and provides a selection of tried and tested projects that local authorities and communities can assess to meet their objectives. It covers a wide range of themes including for example, climate change, energy, biodiversity, sustainable consumption and production and local economic prosperity.
You can view the Local Sustainability Newsletter here.

Consultation on Climate Change Bill

Comhar Sustainable Development Council (SDC) welcomed the opportunity to respond to the recently published Climate Change Response Bill 2010, which sets out a statutory approach to strengthen the national response to climate change. An effective Climate Change Bill can play a key role in integrating climate change considerations and impacts across sectoral and Government decision making and as a result should link together existing climate policy strands and lead to a more coordinated approach.
