Clon Energy Report Public Presentation this Thursday

*SUSTAINABLE CLONAKILTY ENERGY REPORT*

With oil prices flying through the roof in recent weeks, the timing could
not be more appropriate for the people of Clonakilty and surrounding areas,
to familiarise themselves with the Clonakilty Renewable Energy Study 2011,
commissioned by Sustainable Clonakilty last year. The study, entitled, "A
Roadmap Towards Energy Neutrality in the Clonakilty District  by 2020", will
be presented at a public meeting by Xavier Dubuisson of Delap Waller EcoCo,
the consultant who compiled it, at a public meeting at the Quality Hotel
this Thursday evening (10th March) at 8.00pm in the Quality Hotel.

Some of the findings already announced during last Octobers Clonakilty
"Energy Week", found that €23 million is spent in this community on
oil-based energy each year. The study also found that all this costly
imported, energy can be replaced by locally produced energy sources. What
will be outlined at tonight's meeting is how to get from where we are, to
where we should be by 2020, which is only nine years away.

This meeting will be of interest to all stakeholders in the Clonakilty area
– politicians, business people, farmers, industry, etc. who should all
endeavour to make the presentation on the night if possible, because as well
as being a plan to generate our own energy needs sustainably, there are
great opportunities for sustainable employment in the area, as the pan
becomes a reality.

The project is supported by the West Cork Development Partnership under the
Rural Development Programme 2007-2013.
