IWT Job Opportunity: Environmental Education Officer

IWT Job Opportunity – Environmental Education Officer

The Irish Wildlife Trust is seeking to recruit an Environmental Education Officer to help us expand our activities in the Dublin area.

The IWT was founded in 1979 and since then it has grown into one of the leading conservation non-profit organisations in Ireland. Our activities fall under four main headings:

  1. Raising awareness of wildlife and habitats
  2. Education and outreach
  3. Working with communities to promote conservation
  4. Managing reserves for the benefit of wildlife

Our current projects include: bringing school children in the Dublin area into contact with nature; working directly with communities to promote conservation in towns and villages; working with volunteers on practical works to benefit habitats and species (e.g. river clean-ups and invasive species removal); and encouraging communities to be custodians of important wildlife areas in their localities. Further details of our ethos and projects can be found at www.iwt.ie .

The post will involve working with our schools projects in Dublin, expanding our children's nature club, developing awareness raising events for members, fund raising, and carrying out other duties associated with the running of a non-profit body.

The successful candidate will have excellent, proven communication skills and will have experience in the field of education. Proven ability to raise funding for projects is essential. While a formal qualification is not a pre-requisite, a knowledge of Ireland's natural heritage is important while a passion for the environment/outdoors is essential. A full, clean drivers licence is essential.

If you are looking for a different working environment, keen to do something to reverse the planet's decline and a self-starter then please forward a CV to

Barbara Henderson, Irish Wildlife Trust, Sigmund Business Centre, 93A Lagan Road, Glasnevin, Dublin 11 by Monday February 21st, or email to iwt@eircom.net . Also include a cover letter explaining why you think you are suitable for this post.
