West Cork Development Partnership is delighted to announce the Care & Maintenance of Local Heritage Course. This course will be of interest to local community groups, local historical societies and environmental groups that are actively involved or would like to get involved in heritage related projects in their area. The course is comprised of 4 modules:
1. An introduction to the heritage of West Cork (archaeology, local history and folklore etc). 2. Care, management and maintenance of heritage (Workshops on heritage surveying etc). 3. Technical and Best Practice Guidelines (Workshops on traditional skills and heritage interpretation etc) 4. A Future for our local heritage (Project planning and managing Community heritage projects etc)
This course will run for 3 hours, one night a week,
starting in Rosscarbery on Tuesday, March 1st to Tuesday, May 31st. Fieldtrips and Workshops will also form part of the course. The cost of the course is €50. "For me it deepened my appreciation of West Cork; its history, heritage and folklore. It gave me an understanding of the steps we need to take to ensure this is carefully preserved. It linked me up with an enthusiastic class-full of people who shared a similar interest; and finally it was the impetus to launch of Heritage Walkway project."
