Cork Bird Atlas - Only 4 Days Left

f.y.i. For those participating in the bird atlas event.

Dear Atlas Volunteer,

The finishing line is within sight and the species richness map is turning redder by the day http://blx1.bto.org/atlas-results/species-richness.html . Thanks to your tremendous support and ongoing hard work we are on course to producing a fantastic Winter Atlas that we can all be extremely proud of. With just 4 days of fieldwork remaining (28th February) we are asking for one final push this weekend to go 'Roving' to help find some of the missing species in 10-km squares.

The table below outlines the 10-km squares in Cork, the main town or feature in the square and a sample list of species that have yet to be recorded for the winter period. In many 10-km squares this is just a sample of the species missing, to view the full list of missing species for any 10-km square go to www.birdatlas.net <http://www.birdatlas.net/>  and from the 'Data Home Page' click on 'Priority Squares - Winter'. I have also attached an excel spreadsheet which provides this information for other Counties.

To view the priority areas in Cork (squares not red or low number of species) please follow the link: http://blx1.bto.org/atlas-results/mapscork.html and click on the '10-km Label' and 'Show Actual Richness' tools on the left of the map. Please don't hesitate to get in touch if you have any queries or if you would like me to direct you to the highest priority 10-km square in your area.
