1st in a series of 5 workshops taught by John Baker, run over the course of a year, designed to provide a comprehensive grounding in organic orchard management incorporating a balance of theory and practice. These workshops will be held at the Future Orchard Trust, a co-operative land project.
General principles include:
Observation and practice throughout the year - Attention to detail
Letting the land and the trees guide you
Orchard health and hygiene – how to manage pests and diseases
Reviving traditional rituals around apples, fruit and yearly cycles.
1st workshop covers:
Picking a site – Site preparation - Choosing yr varieties and rootstocks –Tools and tool care - Fruit formation, principles and process
