New Draft Standard for Forest Management Certification

Public Consultation

Please find attached a Press Release advising of the current public consultation period on the new Draft Standard for Forest Management Certification.

ALL interested parties are encouraged to provide feedback on this document, and supporting Annexes, which can be found at www.irishforestcertification.com .

In order to ensure that interested parties remain informed of future developments relating to the Draft Standard, they are encouraged to register (no charge) for the Consultative Forum (form attached).

Public Meeting

A public meeting to disseminate information about the new Draft Standard, and to obtain feedback on it is scheduled for Saturday 26th September at the Tullamore Court Hotel, Tullamore.

The event will run from 11am in the morning. Information about FSC, FSC Ireland and the development of the new Draft Standard will be available, and members of both FSC Ireland's Steering Committee and Standard Development Group representing all chambers (environmental, economic and social) will also be present to discuss issues that arise with any interested parties that attend. There will be opportunities to make feedback and inputs on the new Draft throughout the day. Anyone with an interest in Irish forestry is encouraged to attend and participate at a time during the day that suits them.

A brief presentation on the new Standard and the process by which it is being developed will be made at 2pm, followed by a facilitated open discussion. This will be minuted and all the inputs received throughout the day will be considered by FSC Ireland alongside all other public consultation feedback in the further development of the Draft Standard.
