The Economics of Happiness - Exciting Cork Launch by Helena Norberg-Hodge - Next Tues

Next week there will be a Cork screening of the new documentary by Helena Norberg-Hodge - The Economics of Happiness - presented by UCC's Department of Food Business & Development, the UCC International Development Society and ISEC - the International Society for Ecology and Culture. This is the first screening of the film to take place in Ireland and we're delighted to say that Helena herself will be present on the night, along with other guests. Refreshments will also be provided.

Featuring prominent voices such as Rob Hopkins, Vandana Shiva, Bill McKibben, David Korten and Zac Goldsmith, The Economics of Happiness describes a world moving simultaneously in two opposing directions. On the one hand, government and big business continue to promote globalization and the consolidation of corporate power. At the same time, all around the world people are resisting those policies, demanding a re-regulation of trade and finance—and, far from the old institutions of power, they're starting to forge a very different future. Communities are coming together to re-build more human scale, ecological economies based on a new paradigm – an economics of localization."

The screening will take place on Tuesday 1st Feb at 7pm on the main UCC campus in lecture theatre Boole 4 (downstairs, beside the library in the centre of the campus).
