24 hours to Save the Climate Bill

Friends of the Earth Ireland

It was a great victory that the Climate Bill was published just before Christmas. It is amazing to be at this stage in the campaign and it is all down to all your hard campaigning. However everything you have worked so hard for is now under threat!

The vested interests of IBEC and the IFA are already seeking to undermine and dilute the Bill. They want to see weaker targets, and watered down accountability and enforcebility within the Bill. They are meeting senators today and tomorrow to ask them to weaken the Bill.

Unless they hear from you the Bill could be be killed this week.

The Bill is already less than the Government promised. It needs to be strengthened to be effective not further weakened. Please tell you Senators that you want them to seek to strengthen the Bill and to support it in principle. Senators are hearing from powerful lobby groups, to do the right thing they need to hear from you!

Please also consider calling one of the Senators you're emailing to tell them that this is an important issue for you. Many of them will be running in the General Election in the near future so they'll pay attention to you. Just call Leinster House on 01-618300 and ask to be put through to their office.

And we're happy to help you with information about which Senators are most important to talk to and what to say. Get in touch with us by replying to this email or calling the office on 01 639 4652. If we don't speak up, the voices calling for inaction on climate change will win.

Many thanks,
Molly Walsh

P.S. Senators are hearing from po werful lobby groups who want to stall the climate bill. Unless they hear from you the Bill could be be killed this week. Please email your Senators now.
