Biodiversity Beyond 2010: Missed Targets, New Opportunities

INSTITUTE of ECOLOGY and ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT

BIODIVERSITY BEYOND 2010: MISSED TARGETS, NEW OPPORTUNITIES

Annual Conference, 2-4 November 2010, Dublin

Bookings are still open for our Autumn 2010 Conference - a chance for ecologists and environmental managers from across UK and Ireland to champion the importance of our work to protect and enhance biodiversity in the face of strong financial pressures.

We have some outstanding speakers lined up and are pleased to announce a new programme of seminars added as an alternative to the field visits scheduled for the 3 November 2010. The seminar topics are:

1. Green Infrastructure – a practical session looking at tools such as habitat mapping with case studies from Ireland (places limited)
2. Environmental legislation update - a session covering all the latest updates to relevant environmental policy and legislation.
3. Bat protocols – a session going through the new online bat protocol (http://www.buffalodesign.co.uk/clients/bats/bio_bats.html) and explaining the implications for planning authorities.

Student and Graduates Careers Forum - careers talks from ecologists and environmental managers explaining how they have moved up the ecological career ladder.
