6th Irish Bat Conference 1st-3rd October 2010



BAT CONSERVATION IRELAND

presents the

6TH IRISH BAT CONFERENCE

Friday October 1st to Sunday October 3rd 2010 at the Kilkenny Ormonde Hotel, Kilkenny.

Registration costs €60 until September 1st, €80 thereafter.

The conference will present the latest developments in Irish bat research. Themes include:

WIND TURBINES - measures for surveying-for and protecting bats at these sites
A LANDSCAPE APPROACH TO BAT CONSERVATION
BATS AND GENETIC ANALYSIS
MITIGATION

Invited speakers include Dr Ed Arnett, Bat Conservation International's Director of Programs, who will present on bats at wind energy sites and White Nose Syndrome in the US and Dr Carol Williams author of BCT's recent publication on Low Carbon Buildings and Biodiversity.

The conference will include an open floor discussion on Bat Conservation Ireland's proposed guidelines for surveying for and protecting bats at Irish terrestrial wind energy sites so is of particular interest in those with an interest in the environmental impact of wind farms and mitigating possible negative effects.

A field trip will also take place to a cave in the locality.
