Cork Cycling Campaign meeting notes - Wednesday 3rd March 2010

CCC meeting notes

Wednesday 3rd March 2010

Present: Darren, Adam, John McNulty

Apologies: Miro, Dave

Cork Cycling Campaign will host the AGM of Cyclist.ie in Cork on Saturday April the 10th 2010. We hope to get a room in UCC (Adam to contact Stephan or Fergal) and start about 11am, break for lunch from 1 to 2 and continue till about 4pm.

Munster are playing Northampton at 5.30 and certain delegates (me!) would enjoy watching the game in Clancy's Pub (off Oliver Plunkett St) and having some food at the same time. It is proposed to round off the day in LV on Macurtain Street (close to railway station for those travelling by train) with drinks and possibly a film!

It would be great to get as many cyclists (part of campaign or not) as possible to join us in Clancy's or LV for drinks and a chat and an opportunity to meet some of our colleagues.

Given the impending plan by Cork City Council to declare parts of the city centre to have a speed limit of 30km/h (and the backlash in Dublin after making more streets with the same 30 km/h limit), it was decided to contact Ian Winning and offer our support.

National Bike Week this year will be from 13th to 20th of June 2010. It was suggested that the Cork Cycling Arts Festival crew might organise an event during the week. Any funds gained could be reinvested into the festival. It was also suggested that the Advocacy Meeting which is usually held during the Festival might be more appropriate during Bike Week in June or Mobility Week in September.

Adam reported that the Web Portal project was underway and most of the content sections had been sent to the students. (Official exhibition of BIS students is on Thursday 11th of March from 1100 to 1900 in the O'Rahilly Building)

Next meeting

Wednesday 7h of April, 7 pm, backroom of Dennehy's Pub in Cornmarket Street

(opposite Bridewell Garda station)
