The following gives information on a six day training programme 'Community Development & Advocacy' which is being offered to interested parties in the region. It is envisaged that this course will support an understanding of the value of advocacy as a tool of community development and social inclusion. It is being delivered by DESSA and is accredited by Sligo Institute of Technology and equates with the Disability Studies Module within the higher certificate course in Advocacy Studies,(FETAC level 6).
The course will be delivered in three 2 -day sessions on the following dates:
Session One:
11am to 5pm: Monday 26th September
10am to 4pm: Tuesday 27th September
Session Two:
11am to 5pm: Tuesday 11th October
10am to 4pm: Wednesday 12th October
Session Three:
10am to 4pm: Tuesday 8th November
10am to 4pm: Wednesday 9th November
The venue for the course will be in the VEC Offices, The Quays, Bantry(attached to the Maratime Hotel). There are 20 places available on the course so it is advised that if you would like to take part you need to register as soon as possible. The closing date for applicants is Friday Friday 9th September. I will forward the brochure and booking form.
