West Cork Development Partnership is delighted to announce a Care & Maintenance of Local Heritage Course to take place in Macroom. This course will be of interest to local community groups, local historical societies and environmental groups that are actively involved or would like to get involved in heritage related projects in their area. The course will run from each Tuesday from the 6th of September to Tuesday 15th November with field-trips forming part of the course. The course is comprised of 3 modules: 1. An Introduction to the heritage of West Cork (Archaeology, Local History, Researching heritage etc) 2. Care & Maintenance of Heritage (Legal framework for local heritage, Conserving built heritage, Heritage Management etc) 3. Capacity Building (Planning your project, walking routes and trails, integrating Heritage & Tourism, organising Community Initiatives etc.) Should you have a project in mind, the Course Tutor will be available to work with you in developing your project proposal.
