You are cordially invited to attend Transition Cork City's first Food Group meeting this Thursday at 7pm, looking at pragmatic ways to localise, improve, and heighten the resilience of, food production in the Cork City area.
With oil being one of the main ingredients in the production of food for Ireland as much as anywhere else, and many of our familiar foods coming at the end of long and fragile supply chains, meeting local food needs is a central focus of tackling the issues of peak oil and climate change in Transition initiatives.
Food-related ventures such allotments, community gardens, CSAs, wild food maps and other schemes are often fun, productive and community-building at the same time, so we'll be discussing these and other innovative potential directions for the Food Group at the meeting. Come with an open heart, an open mind and any ideas you'd like to have a hand in implementing! It'd also be appreciated if you could tell you know who might be interested about the meeting.
The meeting will take place at South Pres on Evergreen Street, at the above-mentioned time of 7pm, Thursday the 14th of October.
Warmest Regards,
Tom Smith
