Heritage Week in South Pres gardens

 

Dear All

 

In aid of Heritage week, our Gardeners are hosting two events  tomorrow- one in the morning and one in the afternoon. All events are free, and everyone is welcome.Please meet at "We made this" entrance (red door). 

 

Title of the event: Irish Plant Heritage

Date and Time : Thursday, 26th August: 11:30am-12:30pm

Venue :South Pres Gardens, Evergreen Street

Details of the event: "Learn all about the uniqueness of Ireland's green heritage, and how important it is that we protect it"... by John Baker.

 

Title of the event:"The Environmental History of a medieval city" 

Date and Time: Thursday, 26th August: 2:30pm-3:30pm

Venue: South Pres Gardens, Evergreen St. 

Details of the Event: 

 

"A chance to view a city  garden as a window into what city life was like back in Medieval and Early modern times. Market gardens surrounded the city, providing it with fresh food, while in the crowded city, most people had backyard hens and pigs. Much rotted and nothing wasted, the cycle of life and decay was everywhere to be seen, not just in a compost bin"..
