In memoriam: Charlie Hennessy

Charlie Hennessy was one of the first participants in Cork Environmental Forum when it was established in 1995. As the representative of Monkstown Amenity Group he brought his concern for the substantial changes likely to impact on this quieter area of South Cork's hinterland, to the wider discussions around the development of the Port of Cork and the extending road network between Ringaskiddy and Cork City. He brought his broad expertise and experience of legal matters to bear on a number of CEF debates where, while he encouraged
a broader view to be considered, was never without grace, an interesting story or humour to flavour and provide balance to some otherwise dry discussions.

Charlie was a member of the first Management Committee for CEF and served on its first Board of Directors, occupying both posts for over 5 years and enabling the foundling company to get on its feet. Charlie also served CEF as its representative on Cork City Council's Environment Strategic Policy Committee and acted as PRO at public
events for more than 8 years.

Cork Environmental Forum has a lot to be thankful to Charlie Hennessy for, he was a valued member and a good friend to many people in CEF, he will be sadly missed.

We extend our deep condolences to his family and friends.
