IBM is 100 years old in 2011 and the company has evolved and grown alongside hundreds of cities in 170 countries over this 100 year period. Today we have more than 500,000 IBM'ers working together around the world to share ideas and collaborate globally on making Cities smarter. IBM Dublin is a key piece of this global system with our newly created Smarter Cities Technology Centre at the IBM campus in Mulhuddart. Citi for Cities Project Cities matter. The twenty-first century will be the age of the city, the urban age. For the 1st time in history more than 50% of the earth's population live in cities – by 2050 it will be 75%. The world is no longer a network of countries — it is a network of cities. This presents profound challenges for cities to find greater cost and operating efficiency through the modernization of services and infrastructure, while coping with rapid urbanization and population growth, as well as the need to competitively attract business and investment to ensure economic security and growth. This presentation gives an overview of how Citi is working with cities today to solve urban challenges and how it plans to tackle the challenges of tomorrow leveraging its newly established RDiL (Research, Development, Innovation and Learning) Centres.   To register for this seminar, please click here   A Programme for the Autumn phase of the Transforming Ireland series is now available.
